After Surviving Disney+ Cancellation, the Spiderwick Chronicles Reboot Unveils New Trailer

A release date and first teaser for the reboot series The Spiderwick Chronicles have been announced, following its rescue from Disney+ cancellation.


In addition to revealing the series’ premiere date of April 19, 2024, the first teaser trailer for The Spiderwick Chronicles has also emerged.

There was a time when a brand new TV show called The Spiderwick Chronicles, based on the books, was in the works to debut on Disney+. The news broke in August 2023 that, in an effort to save money, Disney+ had decided not to proceed with the show. Since production on the show had already wrapped up, this came as something of a shock to everyone. The U.S. rights to the canceled series were acquired by The Roku Channel in October 2023. Along with this came the announcement that the show will be increased from six episodes ordered by Disney+ to eight episodes. The first teaser trailer, which Roku debuted on Wednesday, is below.
The Spiderwick Chronicles, a remarkable adventure-filled tale helmed by the marvelous Christian Slater and Joy Bryant, will be available exclusively on The Roku Channel,” stated Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Originals at Roku Media, about the company’s decision to save the series. “Millions of streamers will be introduced to this meticulously produced series by a world-class creative team, and we could not be more excited.”

A Free Streaming Service Now Carrying The Spiderwick Chronicles

With much gratitude to The Roku Channel for their enthusiastic collaboration, Paramount TV Studios President Nicole Clemens expressed her excitement at the Spiderwick Chronicles’ new home. We are thrilled that showrunner Aron Eli Coleite has created a stunning series that captures the magic of the novels. We can’t wait for viewers to meet these amazing characters.

The Grace family moves into the home of an ancestor in The Spiderwick Chronicles, where they discover a secret world and the numerous secrets of their great-grandfather’s Spiderwick Estate. Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black’s novels serve as the inspiration for the spinoff series. The 2008 live-action film adaptation of the story was directed by Mark Waters.

Noah Cottrell plays Simon Grace, Lyon Daniels plays Jared Grace, and Mychala Lee plays Mallory Grace in the new series. Bryant is also a part of the cast. Christian Slater plays the role of the ogre Mulgarath, and Jack Dylan Grazer, who played the role in Shazam!, lends his voice to Thimbletack. Producers and showrunner Aron Eli Coleite include Tony DiTerlizzi, Kat Coiro, Holly Black, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, Julie Kane-Ritsch, and Grace Gilroy in addition to director Kat Coiro and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein.

April 19, 2024 is when The Spiderwick Chronicles will make its Roku Channel debut. Paramount+ and Prime Video both offer streaming options for the 2008 picture.
