As part of the process of formally beginning principal filming for “Superman: Legacy,” director James Gunn has also revealed the new Superman logo that will be used throughout the DC Universe. The picture, which is now simply referred to as “Superman,” is the beginning of a new DC film series that will be led by Gunn and Peter Safran. This new franchise will replace the DC Extended Universe movie timeline. This particular series will focus on a younger version of the legendary character known as “Man of Steel.”
As the actors of “Superman: Legacy” began principal photography, Gunn went to Threads to reveal the official logo for the new Man of Steel. This was a fitting tribute to the canonical birthday of Superman, which was just celebrated. Additionally, Gunn made a crucial announcement alongside the unveiling of the logo, which was that the film will now just be referred to as “Superman.”
Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday (!) When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025. Happy Birthday, Clark! UpUpAndAway
Superman’s Costume First Look Explained
Even before the cameras began rolling, the logo had already made its way online by way of the nameplates of cast members who were reading their names at a table read. The interpretation of Superman that was presented in “Kingdom Come” by Mark Waid and Alex Ross served as the source of inspiration for this version of the House of El emblem. One significant change is that the colour black has been replaced with yellow, which is a colour that is associated with Superman.
The most recent update that Gunn has provided on Superman suggests that the costume photo may be a change from the conventional spandex, maybe mirroring the gear that Henry Cavill wears in the DC Extended Universe. Notable in the new design of the S-shield is the increasing appearance of yellow around the shield, which is a novel twist in comparison to previous live-action Superman costumes. This sneak glance at Corenswet in the suit is a promising beginning, despite the fact that the whole costume will remain a mystery until Gunn shows it.
There has been no public announcement regarding the whole appearance of the body suit, which includes the cape and boots. Nevertheless, this preliminary look provides an exciting preview of the reinvented version of Superman that will be available in the DC Universe. Fans are eagerly awaiting a comprehensive debut of Corenswet in the full costume from the co-CEO of DC Studios, as production continues to go forward.
